Food Security and Livelihoods

Helping vulnerable children and families move from daily survival toward long-term resilience.

Food Security and Livelihoods brings together RefugeRoot’s community-based efforts to support access to food, local production, and sustainable income.

For many vulnerable families, food insecurity is not only about hunger. It affects school attendance, health, emotional stability, and the ability of parents or guardians to plan for the future.

RefugeRoot’s approach is to support practical, local solutions that can grow over time. This includes food support for vulnerable children, agriculture-based initiatives, local production, and livelihood activities that help families become more resilient.

Program focus

This area includes initiatives such as Loaves and Fish for Children and community-based farming projects like Kpokissa. These projects are designed to connect immediate needs with longer-term solutions.

The goal is not only to provide meals, but also to help build systems that can continue supporting children and families beyond a single donation.

Food Security and Livelihoods is about making sure that compassion becomes something practical, local, and sustainable.
