We are RefugeRoot

Where it all began

RefugeRoot began with two life stories marked by vulnerability—and a shared conviction that compassion should be more than a moment.Satya Wallin, adopted from India and raised in Sweden from the age of five, grew up with a deep awareness of how early care can transform a child’s future. Constant Sossoulo, raised in poverty in Africa by parents with no access to education, learned firsthand how quickly hardship can limit opportunity.

Together, they envisioned a mission rooted in love, dignity, and responsible stewardship—building practical, lasting solutions that protect vulnerable children and strengthen communities.

Who are we?

RefugeRoot is a people-centered initiative committed to sharing compassion through sustainable action. We focus especially on vulnerable children—particularly ages 0–5—while building the conditions that help families and communities thrive: food security, dignified livelihoods, and access to quality learning.

We are guided by values that many recognize as deeply Christian—love, mercy, integrity, and stewardship—while serving everyone, regardless of background or beliefs. We work with local partners, volunteers, and supporters to deliver programs that are accountable, measurable, and designed to endure.

How we work

  • We listen first, then build with local partners.
  • We design for long-term sustainability, not quick fixes.
  • We commit to transparency, reporting, and measurable outcomes.
