Keys of Hope: Partnering with a Children’s Home in Togo
RefugeRoot is grateful to announce a new partnership with a children’s home in Lomé, Togo, created to expand our Keys of Hope program and offer free music education to children who deserve both protection and opportunity.
This partnership will allow our team in Lomé to support about 20 children who already show interest and potential in music—giving them structured training, encouragement, and the tools to grow.

Why music—and why now?
For children living in an orphanage or children’s home, life can include loss, instability, and the feeling of being “left behind.” Music cannot erase a child’s past—but it can strengthen a child’s future. Music education helps children develop:
- Confidence and self-expression
- Discipline and patience
- Listening skills and teamwork
- Emotional resilience and hope
At RefugeRoot, we believe that when a child discovers their ability to learn and improve, something deeper is restored: dignity.
Together, we can help children in Lomé grow through music—one lesson, one note, one new skill at a time.

What the partnership provides

Through this partnership, Keys of Hope will offer:
- music theory (rhythm, notes, reading, ear training, musical expression)
- instrument discovery and practice, with access to different instruments as the program grows
- a safe, consistent learning environment guided by RefugeRoot’s local team
- a pathway for children to progress step-by-step—regardless of their background
Our approach is practical and child-centered: we meet children where they are, start with fundamentals, and build confidence through steady improvement.
Who will benefit?
The initial phase will focus on approximately 20 children identified with basic music skills or strong motivation. Our goal is to nurture their talent while also ensuring every child feels supported and encouraged—not pressured.
Keys of Hope is not about performance.
It is about formation: building a stronger inner life, a healthier sense of self, and a renewed belief that the future can be different.
How you can help
If you believe children deserve more than survival, you can join Keys of Hope by:
- supporting the purchase and maintenance of instruments
- helping cover teacher support and learning materials
- sharing this project with your community
- volunteering skills (music education, mentoring, logistics, fundraising)
Together, we can help children in Lomé grow through music—one lesson, one note, one new skill at a time.
Plant roots. Grow futures.
